Environmental disaster near Ozni village

This cannot go on! Today will be an emotional post.

Background: in the summer, when i was cleaning up trash in the Tbilisi Dendrological Park (by the way, we collected over 100 bags then!), one reader of my Instagram blog sent me a message.
It followed that there was an environmental disaster near the village of Ozni. The very next day, i drove out there. I searched for the right spot for a long time, and only with the help of a drone did i find the place mentioned in the message, and what i saw shocked me deeply. A huge number of bottles were being washed up by the current from somewhere. Unfortunately, i couldn't get very close due to the risk of many snakes, which are quite common in this region.

I decided to postpone solving the problem for the future. And so, after the hot summer, when the risk of encountering a snake had significantly decreased, i went there again.

Unfortunately, during this time, the trash had increased. I underestimated my strength and couldn't collect it all. But i tried my best, even though it was cold in the water to gather so much trash, plus a certain number of ticks were found in the bushes around, but that didn't stop me. I collected so much trash that i couldn't even load it all into the car. My poor car worked like a garbage truck.
Having spent a lot of energy and resources, i left with thoughts that i would return once more to completely finish the cleanup. Here are the coordinates of the trash dump - 41.6290166, 43.8684709, if you also wish to participate and help in solving this environmental issue.

In the end, i want to address those who shout about their love for the motherland, who believe they love their country more than others. The world around us is our common space, and caring for it lies with everyone. Let's together contribute to preserving the beauty of Georgia's nature and make the world cleaner! My philosophy is very simple: to inspire each other to take eco-friendly actions and together create a clean and harmonious environment.

UPD: In 2025, we solved the environmental problem.

How my eco-initiative began

This was not my first campaign. Over the past few years, i have organized and participated in many environmental initiatives throughout Georgia. One of the most impressive projects was the cleanup of the Kazbek base camp. Back then, after a massive public outcry, the authorities allocated a helicopter to remove about 20 tons of trash. This case became a symbol that civic initiative can truly influence the situation — even at the state level.

There were other actions too: in the Dendrological Park, we collected more than 100 bags of trash with a team of volunteers and caring people. That work became an example of how the power of small actions, united in one movement, can bring real results.

Ecology — not a one-time action, but a lifestyle

For me, ecology is not just about participating in events. It is a mindset and a way of life. Every hike, trekking trip, or simple walk in nature is an opportunity not only to enjoy the beauty but to leave it cleaner than it was. I have a rule: at least one bag of trash for every outing. This is my contribution and my way of being useful.

I do not intend to stop. New campaigns are in the near future. If you know of places in Georgia where the trash problem is particularly acute, please let me know. I want to do more — and inspire others to do at least a little.

Because it is your actions that define who you are.
And caring for nature is not just a responsibility. It is a way to care for yourself, for others, and for the future.
