The History of the Estate
An abandoned estate in Adjara is more than just ruins: it is the shadows of the past, hidden behind moss and decaying walls. Here are forgotten stories of noble dinners, lost roads, and the wind that retells old legends. We found this place not on a map, but through the stories of old-timers in Batumi, and what we saw changed our perception of Georgia.
In the late 19th century, local lands were distributed to nobles and war participants, and the best ones in the picturesque Tsikhisdziri district were given to generals.
This is how the estate of general Pomorsky appeared here. It was located on one of the hills near the coast of the Black Sea, among tangerine plantations and palms.
After the October Revolution, the estate faced nationalization. A rest house was established on its territory; for some time, only KGB employees vacationed here.
To our times, the building itself has survived, from whose balconies a stunning view of the sea opens. The ancient tiles on the floor have survived, but the fireplaces were broken by black diggers in search of treasures. A staircase to the garden and a fountain have also been preserved on the territory.
