5 reasons to take a tour of Tbilisi entrances

Tbilisi Entrance Halls

A different world hides behind the heavy doors of old Tbilisi houses. It is a world invisible from the street: entrance halls with murals, marble stairs, stained glass, and the stories of the people who lived here.

Tbilisi entrance halls are the richly decorated entry spaces of residential buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. During this period, Tbilisi experienced an economic boom, and wealthy residents commissioned artists for murals, stained glass, and decorative elements, turning hallways into true works of art.

5 reasons to take a tour

You will see authentic details from past centuries — murals, moldings, antique hardware — and learn what the lives of wealthy Tiflis residents looked like.

You will try real homemade khachapuri from the hostess, Marina! She also prepares fresh homemade pastries specifically for us, while piano music creates the atmosphere of a true Tiflis home.

The Result of Years of Research

Since 2017, we have been systematically studying the architecture of the old city and documenting the historic entrance halls of Tbilisi. During this time, we have explored over 130 entrances and dozens of houses, met their residents, and gathered a unique archive of materials that form the basis of our tours.

In 2019, we began conducting tours of this format and became one of the first to open this hidden layer of architectural heritage to guests of the city.

Each route is based on real research, archival materials, and personal acquaintances with house residents. Thanks to this, tour participants gain access to places that are impossible to see on their own.

Where the Tbilisi Entrance Hall Tours Take Place

  • Sololaki District Entrances and an apartment with authentic murals from the late 19th century. It is in this apartment that Yuri Dud and Mgzavrebi filmed their videos.

  • Route through the Chugureti District: A former German colony with remarkable architecture. Visiting the entrances in this area will allow you to dive into the atmosphere of past times and learn more about the history of this part of the city.

All routes differ from each other, and each has its own "feature." Tours are available in English and in a private format. Some tourists have taken all three routes, and many have returned with relatives, parents, and friends.

You can also order a gift certificate for loved ones for any of these routes.

If you want to see the real Tbilisi, hidden from most tourists, an entrance hall tour will be one of the brightest impressions of your trip.
